Are you letting your subconscious mind control your actions?

Hi again

I wanted to share an interesting experience on the power of the subconscious and how sometimes it takes over and we don’t even question it.     Along with a business colleague, I  went to the Gold Coast for a business conference at the weekend  and as we were only away for 2 nights,  we had carry on only.  We had checked in online – yet they were weighing at the gate.  We were over-weight  7Kg is very hard to stay under  – but managed not to have to pay on the way up – due to being very lucky,  last on the plane etc.  So on the way back we had a plan, to combine one suitcase before the gate – so one of us would pay and we could split it.    – That unfortunately is not what happened –  we got to the airport – with oodles of time to spare – chatting away about stuff,  about the weekend, and with another colleague that was also travelling on a different airline.     We went straight up to the check in counter – with out even thinking  and you can guess what happened,  yep we both paid excess luggage.   Afterwards – we thought about it – we could have checked in ourselves at the stands in the airport or done it online before we left the conference – or we could have combined our suitcases -and paid for one.

To top it of, they were not weighing bags at the gate, so we would have been absolutley  fine – so $48 poorer – lessons learned  –  Always checkin online,  it is worth paying an extra $20 to save the headache,  but more importantly take control and be aware – it is interesting how so often, when we think we are in charge of our life – we are not really , our sub conscious is controlling us, –  Explanation of the difference  “The conscious mind is the part of your mind that is responsible for logic and reasoning. … The subconscious mind is the part of your mind responsible for all of your involuntary actions”.    How often have you arrived home and had no memory or getting there – scary but true.

It was an interesting exercise – and a great lesson to be fully present and aware of what you are doing – and take control of your actions,  and not let yourself full into bad habits, or be  like a sheep and just follow and allow  life to happen to you.

I would love to hear from you, if you have had a similar experience, as I am sure I am not the only one

until next time
